SYNOPSIS

Short Life follows the story of Martin Butler - a veteran, award-winning investigative journalist for the Chicago Tribune. Martin is infamous for his obsessive interest in cold cases. While chasing down the source of an anonymous message sent to him after his latest cold case story, he uncovers an ethically conflicting government-sanctioned program. Martin must navigate several personal agendas and make the ultimate decision to decide the fate of thousands of souls - including his own.

Martin Butler

Martin Butler is an Irish-American journalist in his mid 40s specializing in cold cases. He has a tenacity in him when it comes to getting to the bottom of a story and has been in Journalism since he graduated college. Martin is highly respected in the industry and has garnered several accolades from some of the most coveted organizations in his field.

Marianne Ross

Marianne Ross is an unbelievably wealthy 72 year old Caucasian woman who's life was torn apart by tragedy in her late 40s. She's exceptionally intelligent, emotional, and driven. As the money behind Project Warmup, she cherishes life and has a very clear moral compass.

Julia Lucas

Julia Lucas is a senior agent at the FBI in charge of the highly classified Project Warmup. In her late 40s/early 50s, Agent Lucas is a hard-nosed law enforcement officer who believes ceaselessly in the good of what she does and is willing to protect it to great extremes. She constantly weighs what she does against the benefits, and understands the weight of the responsibility of being in charge of the program.
